NCSSM Accessibility Services
Consistent with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (Section 504), the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA), and ADA Amendments Act (“ADAA”)of 2008, NCSSM is committed to providing access to qualified students who have disabilities. Our mission is to ensure equitable access to NCSSM's programs, activities, and services for students with disabilities while upholding the integrity of NCSSM’s programs and services.
Because it is a residential school, NCSSM students must be able to care for themselves and live and work independently, with reasonable accommodation, within a rigorous academic environment. Equal opportunity is the foundation for success; however, it does not ensure that an individual with a disability must, or will achieve an identical result or level of achievement as persons without disabilities. An accommodation removes barriers and provides the ability to participate in or benefit from equitably.
Academic accommodations and modifications received at a prior high school will not automatically transfer to NCSSM. Instead, it is necessary for parent(s)/guardian(s), students and applicants to register with NCSSM Accessibility Services. See Individual Accommodation Plan Process.
